Awutu-Bawjiase (C/R), April 13, GNA - Police personnel at Awutu-Bawjiase in the Central Region have been persistently denied easy access to potable water, even though there is a standpipe at the police station.

As a result, personnel of the police service in the community are compelled by circumstances to buy water from outside at exorbitant price for domestic and other uses.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Bawjiase on Sunday, personnel at the station said the standpipe was constructed about eight months ago by the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly, attempts to get the Ghana Water Company to connect the line to the Agona-Kwanyako Water Works have proved unsuccessful.

According to them, officials of the Ghana Water Company had requested for the building documents of the rented premises where the police is operating, before the standpipe at the station can be connected.

They have therefore, made a passionate appeal to the government to use its discretion to ensure early connection of the line to solve the problem once and for all.

They maintained that water is one of the major problems and disturbing issues bedevilling police personnel in Bawjiase.
