Komenda (C/R), Nov 2, GNA - Thirty two students from Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem constituency who have gained admission to senior high schools have been awarded scholarships worth GH¢4,000 per term with effect from 2010/2011 academic year.

The scholarship was awarded through the Dr Joseph S. Annan and Elizabeth Aba Annan Memorial Educational Fund. The Fund, established by Dr J.S. Annan and his sister, is in memory of their late parents and provides financial support to needy but brilliant school children.

The Fund has so far awarded scholarships to 65 students. Mr Samuel Nana Sarpong, the Secretary of the Fund, appealed to the students to study hard to justify the investments made in them. He said the desire to become future leaders would not happen suddenly but by dint of hard work and discipline.

Mr Moses Nartey, the Headmaster of Ampenyi Senior High School, thanked Dr Annan who is also the Deputy Minister of Education and his sisters for instituting the scheme. He told the beneficiaries that the sustainability of the scheme would depend on their performance and asked them to take their studies seriously.
