Constituency holds church service for MP-elect

Krobo (B/A), Jan.6 - Gna - Mr. Alex Kyeremeh, the Member of Parliament-elect for Techiman North Constituency has appealed to the people in the Constituency to put their political idiosyncrasies aside and co-operate for the development of the area.

He said now that the elections were over, what is needed in the constituency was development and asked the people to remove barriers that would militate against peace and development of the area. Mr. Kyeremeh made the appeal at a non-denominational thanksgiving service and fund raising ceremony held at Krobo.

The Non-denominational thanksgiving Serves saw the jubilant supporters and sympathisers of the NDC earlier on a procession through the principal streets of Krobo and so thick was the crowd that vehicular movement virtually came to a halt as the supporters were right in the middle of the road waiting for the MP-elect, Mr. Kyeremeh.

The MP-Elect called on the people to get prepared to support projects that would be located in the area, adding that he would continue the good works left by his predecessor, Mr. Isaac K. Adjei-Mensah in the constituency.

He thanked the electorate for their support during the election that gave him the mandate to lead them and assured them that he will do all within his power to justify the trust reposed in him.

Mr. Isaac K. Adjei-Mensah, the out-going MP and Deputy Minority Leader in Parliament noted that with the victory, there is hope that Techiman will benefit from more development projects since the two NDC Member of Parliaments for Techiman North and South would collaborate with each other in seeking projects for the constituencies.

He emphasised the need for the people to offer more concrete criticism than praises of the MP's in order that they could perform better.

In a sermon, Rev. Doctor Father John Takyi of the Sunayni Diocese and Lecturer at Fiapre Catholic University commended Ghanaians for conducting themselves in a politically matured manner in the December 7 elections.

Rev. Dr. Father Takyi said the peaceful Elections Ghanaians demonstrated had ranked the country as a true God loving nation, which international communities had to emulate to save life and property. Nana Oyeadeayie Asa Ackompanin, Krobohene and Kyidomhene of the Techiman Traditional Area, who presided over the ceremony expressed gratitude that the two Member of parliaments elect were from his Traditional area and advised the MPs-elect not to bear grudge with anybody but to tolerate the views of the people who did not vote for them to solidify their hard won victory towards development. An appeal for funds yielded over 20 million cedis out which, Nana Oyeadeeyie Ackompanin donated 5 million cedis.
