Construction of Assembly Complex abandoned

The chiefs and people of Tatale-Sangule District of the Northern Region have appealed to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to take the necessary steps to enable the contractor working on the Tatale-Sangule Office Complex to resume work.

The Paramount Chief of the Tatale Traditional Area, Obore Gariba Yankosor, made the appeal when he visited the project site with some of his sub-chiefs and elders to ascertain why work has stalled.

Obore Gariba Yankosor said the Tatale Traditional Council released 150 acres of land to the Assembly for the construction of the office complex and other bungalows for assembly staff and that the council was interested in the development of the area.

He described as unfortunate the manner in which the contractor started work in 2014 without project sign board and that he only laid the foundation and abandoned the project.

Obore Gariba Yankosor appealed to the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development to visit Tatale-Sangule District with the Regional Minister to assess the level of development in the area.

Mr Nicholas Waake, DCE for the Tatale-Sangule District, told the GNA that the concerns raised by the chief were legitimate since the contractor was unduly delaying the work.
