Daffiama (U/W), April 12, GNA - Mr. Abu Kasanbata, the Nadowli District Chief Executive, has directed that henceforth no consultant should issue certificates to contractors who failed to bring along their Site Visitors Notebooks and Site Instruction Notebooks for vetting and signing by the assembly. He said contractors had always refused to be at project site and also violated the contractual agreement of providing the books for visitors to sign when they go to inspect their projects. Mr Kasanbata said the assembly would not honour any certificates if the contractor failed to provide such books at their work site for inspectors to make their comments and also sign. The visitors' notebooks would enable the assembly to make comments about the quality of work on the project and also study the number of times the consultant had visited the project site. Mr. Kasanbata gave the directive during an inspection tour to ascertain the progress of work on government projects in the district on Monday.

He said he was unhappy that many of the contractors were not at site during the tour and also did not have the necessary books for assembly Development Planning Officers and other stakeholders to sign and make their comments on job delivery. He said the practice was among other factors that contributed to shoddy work and must be discouraged.

Mr. Kasanbata said the government was on course to provide development facilities to the people to improve their living conditions He said the district had received more development projects under the two years' administration of President John Atta Mills than the previous government and urged the people to give their unflinching support to the government to continue with its 93Better Ghana" agenda.
