Coronavirus: Takoradi GPRTU branch receives PPE's from Hollard Insurance

The Western Regional Branch of Hollard Insurance as part of its effort to fight the spread of the deadly Coronavirus, has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) worth GHC 3,000.00 to GPRTU branch in Takoradi of the Western Region.

Presenting the items which included face masks and hand sanitizers, the Regional Branch Manager, Mr. Isdor Oheneba noted that the company's ultimate aim is to ensure the safety of its customers and the general public during this distressful period.

To him, it is in line with the company's philosophy to complement the effort of government to contain the spread of the deadly virus.

He disclosed that the mother company has already donated GHC100,000.00 to the COVID-19 fund, adding that "in our own small way as a branch want to support our communities and partners to protect both the drivers and passengers".

He added that the enemy we were fighting was not ourselves but the virus.

He, therefore, challenged the drivers and transport authorities to use the same zeal in fighting road accidents and other road-related issues.

He noted that road accidents was still a canker even though it has decreased, "we should not lose sight and continue educating and taking the necessary precautionary measures on our roads", he said.

"As a nation, we will continue to educate our people on road safety so that we will be safe on our roads after winning the fight against COVID-19", he added.

On his part, the GPRTU Advisor (Standing in for the Chairman), Mr. George Senkyere thanked the management for the gesture and noted that this donation would go a long way to strengthen their relationship and support each other during uncertainty.

The entire members of the union were appreciative of the gesture and called on other corporate bodies to emulate it to protect the ordinary citizens.

So far, Western Region has recorded 32 positive cases of the deadly Coronavirus with no death and recovery.
