The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ellembelle District of the Western Region, Kwasi Bonzoh has been 'attacked' for failing to sensitize his people over the deadly Coronavirus following the directives by President Akufo-Addo.

On Sunday evening, President Akufo-Addo directed all MMDCEs in the country to put measures in place to educate people at the various market places about the virus.

Reports receiving from some journalists indicating that some Districts are doing well but nothing positive is happening in Ellembelle District.

A concerned citizen of the Ellembelle District who spoke to GhanaWeb's Western Regional Correspondent Daniel Kaku on condition of anonymity, stated that since the news of the Coronavirus broke, the DCE has failed to address his people, let alone community visitations to sanitise his people.

"You have thus far left our citizens with confidence in your ability to lead us", he told the DCE.

He, therefore, emphasized that the DCE has not donate anything such as money and medical supplies to their health workers to fight the pandemic.

He is asking the DCE his plans for hospitals, clinics, CHPs centers and healthcare workers concerning the fight against the Coronavirus.

He, took the opportunity to command the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah for donating cash and some preventive items to some health facilities in the area and also toured some schools to sensitize students about the killer virus.

He said Armah Kofi-Buah has proven that he was the only leader who has been helping in such a situation like this.

"Ellembelle DCE, it is clear that, Ellembelle can turn to one person only in times of crisis. As of date, Hon. Buah is the only person who has shown excellent leadership. He has given assistance and proper guidance during this crisis. He is the only person who has and continues to show concern", he told our Correspondent.

This concerned citizen is urging the DCE to emulate the leadership style of the MP by showing concern to the good people of Ellembelle District.

"Ellembelle DCE again, the true measure of leadership is how one responds to crisis. Thus far, you have not been only been an abject failure. You have been a weak and selfish leader. I cannot wait to listen to your usual rant on radio once we have survived this crisis", fumed.

A visit to Aiyinasi market in the District which is the biggest market in the area on Friday, March 21, 2020 to ascertain the truth, the visit confirmed that nothing has been done by Ellembelle District as directed by President Akufo-Addo.

Some market women who spoke to our correspondent said the Assembly has not come to them to sensitize them with the virus.

They lamented that they were only relying on God for protection.

In an telephone conversation with the Ellembelle District Chief Executive (DCE) to know preventive measures putting in place to curb the virus from spreading, Kwasi Bonzoh said the Assembly was putting something in place sensitize the people.

He, therefore, pleaded with them to remain calm as the Assembly was putting some preventive measures to fight the killer virus.
