Asankrangwa (W/R), March 2, GNA- Nana Anyani Buadum, III Chief of Wassa Amenfi Traditional Council on Friday presented toiletries and two million cedis on behalf of the Council to the Asankrangwa Secondary School in the Wassa Amenfi District of the Western Region. The items were to be distributed to victims of the recent fire incident at the school.

Nana Adu-Boahene, a representative of the Council said the chiefs in the area were moved by the plight of the victims of the fire hence the presentation.

They pledged to continue to support the victims to enable them to prepare adequately for the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSSCE) in June this year.

Mr. Joseph Bagbin, Headmaster of the school appealed to the government and the management of the Ghana Education Service Trust Fund (GETFUND), to complete the school's assembly hall, which had been abandoned since 1974.

Mr. Bagbin also appealed for the construction of a new girl's dormitory to replace the one, which was recently gutted by fire. It would be re-called that on Feb. 17 this year, fire swept through three of the girl's dormitories, forcing the schools management to convert one of the classrooms into a temporary dormitory while the rest are being accommodated in an uncompleted bungalow until adequate accommodation was found for them.

Mr. Bagbin thanked the traditional council for the assistance and urged others to emulate the example of the chiefs.
