Nsawam (E/R), Dec. 1 GNA- Nana Akua Okyerewa I, presiding member for Akuapem South District Assembly, at the weekend urged Christians and church leaders to use some of their earnings for development projects in their communities.

She mentioned some of the project as schools, clinics, hostels and day care centres.

Nana Akua Okyerewa, who is also the Queenmother of Aburi-Nsakyere made the call when she commissioned a hostel for mothers of children who are admitted at the Nsawam government hospital.

The hostel was constructed by the local council of churches including Methodist, Presbyterian, Anglican, Evangelical Presbyterian (EP), Roman Catholic, and God is Love Churches.

Nana Okyerewa commended the churches for their initiative and appealed for proper maintenance of the project.

Mr Felix Annancy chairman for the Local council of Churches said the project cost more than 50 million cedis and was executed through communal labour and cash contributions by members of the churches.

Mr Annancy said the aim of the Council was to make mothers who often sleep on the floor at the hospital with their babies, comfortable.

Dr Albert Benneh Senior Medical Officer in-charge of the Nsawam Government Hospital received the keys to the hostel and congratulated the churches for their support.
