Boanim (Ash), Oct 11, GNA- Mr Benjamin Asonaba-Dapaah, member of the Council of State, has called on chiefs to mobilise their people for development of their traditional areas to raise their standard of living.
He pointed out that the era when chiefs led their people to wars was over and as such they should be at the forefront in providing education, health and other amenities for the people.
Mr Asonaba-Dapaah was addressing the people of Boanim in the Afigya-Sekyere District on Thursday when Nana Boanyina Adusei-Mensah II, the new chief of Boanim swore the oath of allegiance to his people. Nana Adusei-Mensah, 65, an assemblyman and businessman, succeeded his uncle, Nana Asene Gyimah who died this year.
The Council of State member called for unity among the people and rally solidly behind the new chief to enable him to develop the town. He asked them to eschew apathy, petty squabbles and all negative tendencies that militated against community development.
Mr Ben Abankwa, Afigya-Sekyere District Chief Executive, expressed his gratitude to the people for the peaceful manner the enstoolment was performed.
Nana Adusei-Mensah pledged to follow the footsteps of his predecessors to ensure total peace and unity in the town.
