Mr Michael Kwadwo Adusah, member of the Council of State, has said that plans are far underway for the Government to establish a village for street children in Sunyani.
The project running into millions of cedis would enable them to acquire vocational training skills to contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of Ghana.
Mr Adusah was briefing heads of decentralized departments at Dormaa-Ahenkro as part of his tour of the districts in the Brong Ahafo Region.
He also said it is the desire of the Government to reactivate the Bui Dam in the Region to help improve the electricity supply and give employment opportunities to the people in the area.
Mr Adusah who is the Brong Ahafo on the Council reiterated the commitment of the Government to pursue the mass cocoa spraying exercise to help revamp the cocoa industry.
He, therefore, appealed to farmers to give their support to ensure the success of the exercise.
He emphasized the importance of the President's Cassava Initiative (PCI) to improve on the export earnings of the country and advised farmers to undertake that venture to help improve their living conditions.
Mr Adusah expressed concern about increasing chieftaincy` disputes in the country and said that the problem had affected development and hoped that the committee set up by the President would work tirelessly to recommend to the government, measures to curb the problem.
He assured the people that the Council of State Members in the performance of their duties would advise the President on issues of national importance.
Mr Emmanuel Duku, Dormaa District Chief Executive (DCE) who presided over he function, said that the Assembly has been incurring expenses on the security personnel along the Ghana-La Cote D'Ivoire borders.
He explained that the situation is draining the coffers of the Assembly and appealed to the Ministry of Interior to look into the issue.
