Agona (Ash), Dec 26, GNA - The Agona Magistrate's Court on Wednesday remanded Mohammed Adam, Assemblyman for Hiawoanwu, near Ejura, and one Salifu, a farmer, in prison custody for murder. Their pleas were not taken and they would re-appear on January 20, 2004.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) William Awuvey, Ejura-Sekyedumase District Police Commander, told the Court presided over by Mr Asiedu Badu that the Assemblyman reported to the Police that he had found a male adult lying dead behind a high-tension electricity pole.

He said the Police, therefore, proceeded to the scene and found the deceased identified only as Moro, 36, lying dead in a state of decomposition.

DSP Awuvey said the Police, who suspected foul play, called for a pathological examination and the report revealed that the deceased was lynched.

Consequently, he said, the Assemblyman and Salifu were picked for interrogation and were subsequently charged provisionally with murder.
