Foster Grant 30, an employee of Magandah Security Services, a private security company, has been fined ?800,000 by the Ejisu District Court for posing as a Police officer and being in possession of Police accoutrement.
He pleaded guilty and would go to jail for 12 months with hard labour in default.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Nkansah Twumasi Ankrah told the court that Grant resided at Kwamo, near Ejisu.
He said there was a protracted land dispute between Kwamo and Adako-Jachie and the case was before the Ejisu/Juaben District Security Committee and the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11.
Inspector Nkansah said due to this problem, the two communities had been attacking each other and these had resulted in damages to both sides and that all efforts to arrest the perpetrators had proved futile.
The Prosecution said on 6th March 2003, at about 1330 hours Police had information that a group of young men armed with offensive weapons had blocked the road leading to Adankwa-Jachie and were harassing people.
Inspector Nkansah said the Police, therefore, proceeded to Kwamo where they saw the accused dressed in Police uniform together with others with red bands round their wrists and heads behind the Kwamo Chief's Palace.
He said on seeing the Police, the group took to their heels but the Police managed to arrest Grant and when a search was conducted on him, a Police hospital identification card bearing the name Addae Benford Paul and another card from Mangadah Security Services were found on him.
In addition Inspector Ankrah said, a toy pistol and a toy mobile phone were also found on him and he was consequently arrested.
