On Friday, August 1, 2025, the forecourt of Covenant Presby School in Dzorwulu, Accra, buzzed with pride, joy, and anticipation as the school held its 18th Graduation and Awards Ceremony.
Under the theme "Providing Holistic Education to Children the Hope for National Development," the event celebrated the achievements of 30 kindergarten graduates transitioning to primary school and 21 Junior High School (JHS) students who completed their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The ceremony also honoured outstanding students, dedicated staff, and supportive parents who have shaped the school’s legacy.
A Call to Shape Ghana’s Future
The event, chaired by Madam Yvonne Oppong-Ayisi, Acting Head of Syndications and Capital Markets at Consolidated Banks Ghana (CBG), set an inspiring tone.
In her opening speech, Madam Oppong-Ayisi shared a heartfelt anecdote from her childhood, recalling how a teacher’s humorous response to her question about Friday homework taught her the value of curiosity.
“Asking good questions is just as important as giving good answers,” she said, emphasizing that holistic education nurtures not only academic skills but also critical thinking, empathy, and character.
She urged the graduates to shine as future leaders, thinkers, and dreamers, declaring, “You are already a success, and the nation is blessed to have you as its future.”
The Headmistress, Mrs Evelyn Amoamah Antwi, echoed this sentiment in her welcome address, highlighting the school’s commitment to Presbyterian values of developing the “head, heart, and hands.”
She proudly announced the school’s stellar 2024 BECE results, with a 100% pass rate and 88% distinction, securing placements for graduates in top Senior High Schools across Ghana.
Mrs. Antwi also celebrated past achievements, noting that 2024 graduate Master Frederick Lokko won the Literacy Challenge organized by Channel One TV and Citi FM, now studying science at St. Augustine’s College.
She encouraged parents to enrol their children in this year’s competition and the school’s Read to Grow literacy program, run in partnership with Girls Education Initiative Ghana (GEIG).
Guest Speaker Inspires a Generation
Madam Judith Amoateng Ennin, Director of Education for Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly, delivered a stirring speech as the guest speaker.
She described holistic education as a tool to nurture not just academic excellence but also moral integrity, emotional resilience, and social responsibility.
“Our children are the ones who will drive innovation, lead with integrity, and build a just, inclusive, and sustainable society,” she said. Addressing the graduates, she urged them to embrace challenges with courage and to see education as a lifelong journey.
To parents and teachers, she extended gratitude for their unwavering support, calling them the “foundation” and “heart and soul” of the students’ success.
Celebrating Academic and Extracurricular Excellence
The ceremony was a vibrant showcase of talent, resilience, and dedication. The JHS Class of 2025 shone brightly, with Yebowro Edudzi Yaw dominating the subject awards, clinching top honors in Mathematics, Science, Career Technology, and Computing.
His exceptional performance earned him the prestigious Overall Best Student 2025 award, marking him as the standout graduate of the year.
Other subject awardees included Jeremy Oppong (Social Studies), Cedric Agboka (English Language), Obaa Yaa Acheampong (Ghanaian Language - Twi), Akosua Baah Asare (Religious and Moral Education), Messiah Akumia (French Language), and Yebowro Selikem (Creative Arts).

(Basic 4) earning the Taekwondo award and Nsoh Ibrahim Najat (Basic 7) recognized for excellence in Cadet activities.
Honoring Dedication Beyond the Classroom
The ceremony also recognized the tireless efforts of staff members.
Shadrach Osei Boateng was named Best Teacher in the Junior High School category, Theresa Dede Tei in Primary School, and Abigail Ashalley in Preschool. John Essel Amoah received the Best Teacher in Extracurricular Activities award, while Solomon Tweneboah Prempeh was honored as Best Administrative Staff.
Staff members Jacob Bright Owusu, Foster Asare, Nuetey Daniel, Samuel Opoku, and Patience Naoh were recognized for their unwavering commitment and hard work.
A Bright Future Awaits
In her closing remarks, Madam Oppong-Ayisi brought the audience to smiles and reflection, encouraging the graduates to pursue their dreams with courage and kindness. “Success is not just about being first in class, it’s about being kind, staying curious, and never giving up,” she said, admitting with a chuckle that even she once hid a report card.
She urged the graduates to believe in their potential to become doctors, teachers, engineers, artists, or even presidents, reminding them that “greatness begins with belief.”
As the event concluded with performances by the students, the air was filled with hope and pride.
Covenant Presby School Dzorwulu reaffirmed its commitment to holistic education, shaping not just scholars but compassionate, resilient, and visionary citizens.
To the graduates, Mrs Antwi’s parting words rang true: “Go out there and shine like the stars, lifting the flag of our dear school high.”
With Ghana’s future in their hands, these young champions are ready to make their mark.
