Chiefs and some other people interested who want Government to create an Ahafo Region, Thursday, appeared before the Commission of Inquiry set up to listen to relevant petitions.

Some of those rooting for the Ahafo Region expressed optimism that the creation of the administrative area would ensure residents get their fair share of the national cake.

The Commission of Inquiry was set up by President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to find the substantial demands for the creation of regions, as well as make recommendations to his government.

In the specific case of the current Bono-Ahafo, two additional regions are expected to be created from it under the names the Ahafo and Bono East regions, if approved by the authorities.

Early in the week, petitioners for the creation of new regions out of the Western and Volta regions appeared before the commission. Those for the demarcation of Bono East and areas in the northern regions are expected to appear before the commission on 29th November and 5th December.

According to the Chairman of the Commission of Inquiry, retired Supreme Court Judge Stephen Alan Brobbey, after this, the members of the commission will move to the regions for further consultations from members of the public who may wish to make presentations on the need for the creation of new regions.
