THE DISTRICT Chief Executive (DCE), for Birim North, Mr. Victor Biscuff Owusu Ahenkorah, has visited victims of an accident involving a 33-Seater Benz bus and a timber truck belonging to Birim Wood Complex Limited, which claimed seven lives on Tuesday, January 21, this year.

The accident, which occurred near the Oda Secondary School junction, also critically injured a number of people.

The Benz but was traveling from Adwafo in the Birim North District to Oda when the accident occurred.

The DCE, accompanied by the District's Police Commander and other officials, consoled the victims and wished them speedy recovery.

He expressed his displeasure about the way the timber truck driver left the vehicle on the road when it broke down without any proper traffic warning, resulting in the accident and called on the police to check such careless drivers to prevent such avoidable accidents.

He made some cash donations to some of the victims and promised to assist them further when they are discharged and brought back to the district.

The Principal Medical Officer at the hospital, Dr. Emmanuel Tetteh Ashong, and the hospital's matron, Madam Comfort Owusu Ansah, briefed the DCE and his entourage and said apart from the initial death, other victims on admission were in stable condition.

They said four of the victims had been transferred to other hospitals such as Korle-Bu and St. Joseph Hospital at Koforidua for treatment on some complications they developed.

They praised all the medical staff and other staff who combined effectively to save more lives.
