DCE appeals for division of District

Yefri (B/A), May 3, (GNA - Mr. James Kwabena Appiah-Awuah, Nkoranza District Chief Executive has appealed for the division of the district into two to accelerate the development of the communities. The DCE made the appeal when he accompanied Major Derek Oduro (rtd), MP for Nkoranza North, on his maiden visit to Yefri, Domeabra, Boana, Bodom and Tanfiano to thank the people for voting for him in the bye-elections.

He stated that Nkoranza was so large, unwieldy and populous for one District Assembly to manage it, "hence the need for the creation of two districts to make the task of managing the communities easy". Mr. Appiah-Awuah said the results of the bye-elections indicated that the area was strong support base of the New Patriotic Party and the creation of the districts would boost their ego and morale for the 2008 general election.

He urged religious and traditional authorities, as well as all stakeholders to support the proposal to obtain a favorable response from government and asked the people to bury their political differences and forge ahead in unity.

Major Oduro advised the youth to be united to be able to help initiate development programmes and form groups so they could undertake income generating ventures to improve their living conditions. He urged them to shun social vices and to be disciplined so they could become responsible citizens and expressed his readiness to assist them in their development programmes.

At Yefri, Mrs. Grace Obeng-Donkor, Assemblywoman for the area, appealed to the District Assembly to provide some low tension poles for an extension of electricity power to newly-developed areas in the community.

Mr. Charles Baafour Amisare, Assembly member for Pinihe appealed for the construction of two boreholes at Domeabra and Pinihe. Mr. Victor Kwame Badu, Assembly member for Bodom-Tanfiano appealed to the MP and the DCE for the provision of a more spacious six-classroom block for the local primary school.

Nana Oppong Amponsa, chief of Bodom and Mr. Badu, Assembly Member, called on the MP and the DCE to assist the people to check the effects of erosion in the area.
