Nkoranza (B/A), Dec 16, GNA- Mr Kwame Ampofo-Twumasi, the Nkoranza District Chief Executive, on Tuesday urged assembly members, unit committees and opinion leaders to supervise and monitor the activities of contractors to ensure that they produce good quality work on projects.

Mr. Ampofo-Twumasi was addressing a forum attended by School Management Committees (SMCs), Assembly Members and teachers of Pinihe Roman Catholic Primary, Methodist Primary and Nkoranza Methodist Primary schools at Nkoranza.

The forum, organized by the Community Schools Alliance (CSA) of the Quality Improvement in Primary Schools (QUIPS) project under the sponsorship of the United States for International Development (USAID), was to enable the stakeholders to share ideas about the success and challenges facing the schools.

Mr. Ampofo-Twumasi deplored the practice by some contractors to use poor and inferior materials on projects and called on every person in the locality to report any shoddy work by a contractor to the Assembly. Mr Baffoe Akrapim, Chairman of the SMC of Nkoranza Methodist Primary School, expressed gratitude to the USAID and the CSA for adopting the school.

He said the assistance by the CSA in the provision of recreational facilities for the pupils has resulted in an increase in enrolment as more children are attracted to the school.

The SMC chairman of Pinihe Roman Catholic Primary School, Mr. Paul Kwasi Boahen, commended USAID for assisting the community to build a block of six classrooms.

He paid tribute to the regent of the area, Nana John Osei Awuah, for providing free accommodation for six teachers in the town to sustain their interest in the community.
