Drobo (B/A), Sept 09, GNA - Mr Apraku Tanoh, the Jaman District Chief Executive, on Friday urged the police to embark on swoops on 'wee' smokers in the district.
He said reports reaching the assembly indicated that idle youth in some towns and villages in the area, after smoking the drug, disturb public peace.
Mr Tanoh was addressing the First Ordinary Meeting of the Assembly at Drobo.
He expressed gratitude to members of the assembly for their overwhelming support for him during his confirmation and pledged to work to reciprocate the confidence reposed in him. The DCE said as a first step he would go on a tour of the district to meet chiefs to help him to identify pertinent and peculiar problems in the communities.
Mrs Anna Nyamekye, MP for Jaman South, urged the assembly to assist farmers in the district, particularly the youth, to embrace modern methods in agriculture.
Mr. Boamah Djan, Director of Planning at the Ghana Highway Authority, commended the government for making efforts to complete the Babianeha-Sampa highway.
