DCE assures of solution to Kwabeng water problem

Akyem Kwabeng (E/R), March 6, GNA - Mr Michael Osei Agyepong, Atiwa District Chief Executive on Wednesday assured residents of Akyem Kwabeng in the district that two mechanized borehole would soon be constructed in the town as an interim measure against perennial water problem facing them. He urged them to exercise restraint in the face of the problem, saying it could not be solved overnight. Mr Agyepong gave the assurance after inaugurating a seven-member committee charged with the responsibility of exploring short and long term solutions to the water problem in the town. He said X-tra Gold Mining Company Limited operating in the area had also agreed to provide six boreholes for the town. Meanwhile, Mr Michael Turkson, Mining Engineer of X-tra Gold Company has refuted allegations that the company was polluting river "Awusu," the sole source of water supply for the town.
