Bole(N/R), Sept. 04, GNA Madam Elizabeth Salamatu Forgor, Bole District Chief Executive has appealed to Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) for an early release and increase in allocation to the assemblies.
She said this would enable them embark on more development projects to improve the living standards of the people. Madam Forgor made the appeal when addressing the last session of the assembly at Bole.
She said problems facing the assembly included deplorable roads that made it difficult for farmers to transport their foodstuffs to the marketing centres, high cost of education and few workers due to the lack of office and residential accommodation for decentralised departments in the district Madam Forgor noted that despite the myriad of problems, the assembly had its fair share of development with the provision of school, health, water and sanitation infrastructure, as well as self-help projects.
She said with the introduction of the Capitation grant enrolment, in schools had increased and that was a challenge to the assembly to provide more school infrastructure and the training of more teachers to improve teaching and learning.
Madam Forgor said efforts were being made and the necessary logistics provided to enable pupils of Banda Nkwanta Primary School participate in the School Feeding programme. The DCE said about 40 hectares had been ploughed and some youth engaged to undertake maize cultivation in the district.
She advised the people to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to enable them enjoy affordable and quality health care delivery and urged the assembly members to educate their people on government policies and programmes.
Mr James Jaaga, Presiding member advised assembly members seeking for re-election to be mindful of their election promises that could lead to mistrust when they failed to fulfil them.
He urged them to serve as role models in their communities through playing more responsible roles to improve on the living standards of the people. Mr Jaaga advised the assembly members against using money to influence the electorates to enable them elect the right caliber of people to the assembly.
The Presiding member expressed appreciation to the assembly members for their support and co-operation, irrespective of their ethnic, religious and political differences.
