Mr William Atta Mends, Abura Asebu Kwamankese District Chief Executive (DCE) on Friday tasked churches and civil society organisations to prepare and resource the youth to enable them contribute meaningfully towards the development of the society.

He noted that if the youth are given the needed support they would be able to mobilise the requisite resources that would help with the development of the country.

Mr Mends was speaking at the 11th Biennial Delegates Conference of the Methodist Youth Fellowship held at the Cape Coast School for the Deaf in the Moree circuit.

It was on the theme: ?Mobilising resources for ministry in readiness to make the defence of their faith.”

The conference which started from Friday April 19 and ends on Sunday April 21, is being attended by more than 50 delegates.

Mr Mends said the current economic situation makes it imperative for all, especially the youth, to get actively involved in the planning and implementation of government policies and programmes.

The DCE advised the youth to desist from all forms of social vices and rather contribute their quota to the development of the nation and endeavour to care for one another.

Mr. Justice Kwesi Yankson, Diocesan Chairman of the Methodist Youth Fellowship pointed out that for the church to grow, it was important for it to identify, mobilise, develop, encourage and involve the youth in all activities and programmes.

He urged the youth to be crusaders of Christ and endeavour to be resolute in whatever they do so as to attract more people to the Methodist church.

Okatakyi Dr Amanfi VII, Omanhen of Asebu, who presided over the event, said the youth are the foundation of the church hence the need for them to harness their talent and resources to ensure the growth and development of the mission and the nation as a whole.

The Omanhen who is also the Vice President of the Central Regional House of chiefs asked the participants to use the conference to enhance their spiritual and social lives.
