The Akuapem South Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Mark Dompreh Amoako has commended educational stakeholders in the area for their various roles in ensuring that schools in the municipality placed first in the Eastern Region Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
“I congratulate all the teachers who made this achievement possible and urge the pupils who are about to write the BECE to even do better.”
Mr Amoako said this during the 55th independence anniversary celebration at Nsawam and thanked the teachers for devoting their time and skills to adequately prepare the pupils for such an impressive performance.
He said it was the duty of both government and the opposition to respect the social contract between them and the people adding that “the ruling government has obtained the mandate of the people to rule and deliver on its manifesto whiles the opposition is to keep them on their toes and ensure that the right thing is done within the law.”
Mr Amoako said election was about choosing good leaders to rule and not to antagonise sections of the society, and that to maintain the country’s democracy, political groupings and institutions involved in the upcoming elections should act responsibly.
“We have to protect our democracy which is the envy of all on the African continent. We have peace and wish it to be so. It is the collective responsibility of all to sustain the peace and democracy that we have, which is our national heritage,” the MCE stated.
He called on Ghanaians to cherish and treasure the peace in the country and maintain it for the growth of democracy, saying it is in the light of this, that the theme for celebration “Sustaining Peace and Democracy for National Development”, gained its relevance
