DCE cut sod for a school project

The Birim North District Chief Executive, Mr Raymond Damptey has cut the sod to commence the construction of a three unit classroom block for the Nkwateng Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Basic School.

The Project consist of an office, a store, teachers’ staff common room, library and a four unit vault chamber with a urinal.

The Project, expected to be completed in five months, would support other infrastructure in the school to benefit a student population of 400, from the kindergarten to the Junior High School and staff of 18.

The Nkwatenghene, Nana Amane Ankrah II, in an interview, assured the contractor of the community’s commitment to support him to deliver on schedule.

In another development, the DCE has embarked on an inspection of projects initiated under his watch and others started by his predecessor which are being continued.

The projects inspected included, a police post located at Noyem-Akoase which was 90 percent complete as well as a six unit classroom block for the Sakapia D/A Basic School which was at the roofing level.

Other projects are, a five apartment storey Teachers quarters located at Hweakwae and another five apartment storey quarters at Adausena, which was started by his predecessor, but was being continued by his administration and when completed, would help ease accommodation of teachers posted into those communities.

The rest of the projects were three borehole facilities for Akoase St Michael School, Pankase and Obuobetwao communities.

The Mamaso, Amoah and Ntronang communities were also benefiting from toilet facilities, whiles 11 communities were to be hooked to the national grid by the close of the year.

Speaking to the media, the DCE said the police post would serve residents and commuters who in recent times were in fears due to armed robbery attacks.

He said the assembly, last year, embarked on various projects in education, health, energy and sanitation to change the fortunes and raise the standard of living of the people in the area.

He expressed his desire to continue working hard to provide the people with the basic social amenities that would help improve their lives.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Abirem Constituency, Mr John Osei Frimpong said the 120 kilometers road stretch from Nkawkaw to Akim Oda is part of roads earmarked by government for construct on through a loan facility.
