DCE praises out-going Afigya-Kwabre assembly members

Kodie, Nov. 1, GNA - Mr Kwaku Oppong-Kyekyeku Kaakyire, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Afigya-Kwabre, has given high marks to out-going assembly members of the area for what he said was their significant contributions to the progress of the district. He said their maturity, commitment and co-operation led to the implementation of a number of development projects within the last four years.

Mr Oppong-Kyekyeku was addressing the last general meeting of the assembly as it ended its four-year term at Kodie on Monday. He credited the assembly members with the relative peace and unity among the people in the area.

The DCE said the district, which was carved out of Afigya-Sekyere and Kwabre in year 2008, faced some challenges and that it was his prayer that many of them seeking re-election would be returned by the people so that the Assembly could tap into their rich experiences. He said he was confident that they would continue to work towards the development of their communities.

Mr Oppng-Kyekyeku extended an invitation to all of them to participate in the 2010 district farmers' day to be held at Swedru on Friday, December 3.

The DCE, assembly members and heads of departments later inspected some completed and on-going projects implemented by the assembly.

The projects included administration block, assembly hall, bungalow for the DCE, staff quarters and a six-classroom block at Kodie, Others were construction of teachers' quarters' at Apagya, classroom blocks at Kyekyewere, Tetrem, Kwamang and washrooms at Ahenkro.
