Nyinahin (Ash), Jan. 14, GNA - Mr Wilberforce Owusu-Ansah, Atwima-Mponua District Chief Executive, has advised members of the Muslim community in the District to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to enable them to enjoy affordable and quality health care.

Addressing Muslims at Nyinahin after their Eid-Ul-Adha prayers, he said the idea of instituting the NHIS was to make health care affordable to all Ghanaians.

Muslims he said should therefore take advantage and register with the scheme so that they were not denied healthcare. The DCE urged Muslims also to take advantage of the capitation grant and send their children especially the girls to school to acquire secular education in addition to Islamic education and also help to retain the good image of Islam.

Mr Owusu-Ansah urged them to be law-abiding and study the Constitution to know their rights and responsibilities and advised Muslim parents not to force their young daughters into early marriage and also refrain from engaging in female genital mutilation. The DCE further advised them against drugs and other anti-social activities that could tarnish the name and image of the religion.
