DCE urges traders not to assist revenue collectors to cheat

Winneba, June 16, GNA - Mr Solomon Kwashie Abban-Quaye, the District Chief Executive of Awutu-Effutu-Senya, has called on the people in the district not to condone and connive with revenue collectors to cheat the assembly. He said the assembly needs funds to undertake development projects and they would be doing a great de-service and harm to the assembly if they refused to honour their taxes obligation.

Mr Abban-Quaye made the call at the close of a day's Youth Mock Assembly at Winneba on Tuesday, under the theme "Youth Participation in Decision Making Can Make a Difference" It was organized by the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District secretariat of the National Youth Council (NYC) in collaboration with the African Youth Alliance (AYA).

The Mock Assembly is a forum for the youth to discuss issue affecting them and present a resolution to the district for redress. Mr Abban-Quaye urged the people, especially traders, to pay their taxes in full and demand the relevant receipts covering them. He told them that if they made under payment and tickets were not given there is the likelihood that the money would not go into the assembly's coffers.

Mr Abban-Quaye said that existing facilities and the markets at Bontrase, Bawjiase and Kasoa could not be improved upon because of low revenue generation there. He said the district's potentials would be put on the Internet to make easy for investors to know more about the district and its potentiality.
