Wassa Akropong (W/R), Jan 16, GNA - Mrs Olivia Opoku-Adomah, Western Regional Economic Planning Officer, at the weekend said District Chief executives in the region would now be required to defend their economic and development plans before funds are released for the implementation of the plans.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Wassa Akropong, she said the measure was to ensure that the plans are implemented after funds had been released.

Mrs Opoku-Adomah said it came to light during monitoring in 2006 by the regional economic team that most district plans for which funds were provided were abandoned and different plans were implemented. She urged communities to participate in the Community Based Rural Development Project (CBRDP) to ensure that contractors deliver on projects.

Mrs Opoku-Adomah appealed to assembly members to be pro-active and participate in final inspection, handing over and commissioning of projects as well as site meetings of the CBRDP.
