Kuntanase (Ash), Dec 28, GNA - The Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District Health management Team (DHMT) on Thursday honoured 18 of its workers and volunteers for their hard work and dedication to duty. Mr John Doko from the Foase sub-district received the best Community Health Officer award and took home a two-burner gas cooker and a cylinder, while five other community health officers had a radio cassette recorder each.

In the Community-Based Surveillance category, Mr Cosmos Boakye Frimpong from the Amakom sub-district emerged the best worker and received a radio cassette recorder and Wellington boots while four others also received a pair of Wellington boots each.

Madam Helena Asuming from the Kuntanase sub-district was adjudged the best traditional birth attendance and was given a full piece of wax print and six others received a radio cassette recorder each. Mr Cosmos Boakye Frimpong who spoke on behalf of the award winners, expressed their gratitude to the DHMT for the honour done them and pledged their preparedness to continue to work harder to improve health in the district.

He appealed to the government to give incentive packages to the community based surveillance volunteers to boost their moral to continue to work as the training they had received could be very well utilised in diverse ways to the benefit of the communities.

Mr Frimpong also requested the authorities to provide the health workers with bicycles or motorbikes to enable them reach areas in the district, which were inaccessible for the proper monitoring, supervision and recording of health activities.
