Boamang (Ash), Nov. 21, GNA - Mr. Albert Kan-Dapaah, Minister of Defence and MP for Afigya-Sekyere West, has inaugurated three projects in the Afigya-Kwabre District. The projects were the Ministry of Communications funded Information Communications Centre at Amoako, a rehabilitated Health Centre funded through his share of the MP's Common Fund and a Community library which was financed by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) at Boamang. Addressing separate durbars to inaugurate the projects Mr. Kan-Dapaah, commended chiefs for coming in their numbers to grace the occasion which was not so in the past. He said their sense of unity of purpose needed commendation and suggested that it should not be a nine-day wonder but they should keep it up for the youth to emulate to enhance the rapid development of the communities.
He urged the school children as well as the adults to make good use of the facilities especially the computers and the library books to improve on their academic performance. The Health Centre, which comprises an accommodation unit, a maternity block and a main Reproductive and Child Health unit, had all the structures rehabilitated and equipped with the relevant medical materials and equipment and a mechanized borehole for the Centre. It has been named after the late Mrs. Beatrice Aboagye, the former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for the area who initiated the project as an MP and the sister of Mr. Kan-Dapaah.
He said this was done to tell the people that it was good to honour people who commit their lives to the development of their areas. The Community Library Complex has also been named after the late Chief of Boamang, Nana Akwasi Owusu-Tia II who also devoted his time to ensure that unity and peace prevailed in the area especially between supporters of political parties in the constituency. Mr Kan-Dapaah appealed to the people to bury their political differences and see each other as one people with a common destiny and aim at how best they would support the development of the area. Mr. Kwasi Karikari Achamfour, Afigya-Kwabre District Chief Executive, appealed to the people to rekindle their communal labour spirit and initiate more development projects. Mr. Asamoah Manu, Assembly Member for Amoako Electoral Area, appealed to the minister to provide a photocopier and colour printer for the ICT Centre.
Madam Agnes Kunadu, Assembly member for Boamang South commended the government for the concern it had shown to the people in the area by providing the facilities and encouraged the people not to forget the NPP government when they go to poll on December 7.
