Deputy minister of Tourism, Dzifa Gomashie has entreated parents to always correct their wards whenever they go wrong.
She noted that parents in the name of showing love to their wards end up putting them at risk.
The Deputy Tourism Minister was speaking at the graduation ceremony of Edlys Montessori School in Accra.
The ceremony brought together parents, teachers, government officials to watch what the pupils show off what they can do aside academics.
The pupils took turns to display in Cadet drill, singing, recitation, dancing, drama among others.
Madam Dzifa Gomashie quoted a bible verse which says, "Spare the rod and spoil the child" as something parents must go by.
She also expressed the need for parents with busy schedule to visit the schools of their wards to get first hand information about their wards.
"Parents and teachers ought to work hand in hand in the training and upbringing of the child. This will ensure these pupils become responsible in society and to their family", she noted.
Speaking on the theme" Parents Involvement, Key to developing and nurturing young minds for the next year" the Chairman for the graduation ceremony who happens to be the Director of National Lottery Authority, Brigadier Martin Ahiaglo said in order for children to become responsible they need to be disciplined.
He said, "both parents and teachers must ensure that children are disciplined both at home and school ".
For her part the Proprietress of the Edlys Montessori School, Lydia Adotey said the school was able to complete its academic work by the end of the academic year.
She said due to schools rigid calendar parents ought to support their wards in making learning interesting and attractive.
Deputy Minister of Defence Kenneth Gilbert Adjei presented awards to the pupils. In all, 29 pupils graduated from the Pre-School.
