Biemso Number One (Ash), Jan 11, GNA - Mr Asamoah Damoah, the Deputy Ahafo-Ano South District co-ordinating Director, has appealed to Ghanaians to take the campaign messages and education on HIV/AIDS seriously to stem the alarming spread of the pandemic. He said it was a matter of concern that people continue to show indifference attitude towards the education on the disease and still lead carefree lifestyles.

Mr Damoah, who is also the District Focal Person on HIV/AIDS, was addressing a durbar at Biemso Number One to launch "Friends of AIDS Patients", a Community-Based Organisation (CBO).

The durbar was organised by four patrons of the organisation under the leadership of Mr Kwabena Peprah, assemblyman for the area, and was designed to prepare the 21 peer educators of the organisation to undertake vigorous education campaigns on the pandemic for those under 15 years referred to as ''the window of hope.''

Mr Damoah said since the youth were the most vulnerable, it was very important that they were thoroughly educated on the dangers of the disease.

Nana Afrifa Ababio II, chief of Biemso Number One, urged the people to attach importance to the messages on the disease and told the peer educators to intensify their campaign against the disease so as to create a greater awareness among the people especially the youth.
