Development of C/R depends on all - Nana Ato Arthur

Dunkwa-On-Offin (C/R) Sept.9 GNA - Nana Ato Arthur, Central Regional Minister, on Thursday stated that the development depended on the collective effort of all stakeholders in it and the tasked all to work hard to accelerate its socio-economic development. He said it was only when people eschew laziness, absenteeism, drunkenness during duty and lateness and dedicate themselves to their work that the region would be enumerated from poverty. The Regional Minister made this remark at a meeting with heads of department of the Upper Denkyira district at the end of his 3-day visit to the district, at Dunkwa.

Nana Arthur reiterated that the region did not deserve to be the fourth poorest in the country and therefore challenge all to be committed to their work to change the statusquo for the better. He tasked the heads of department to set performance targets for their out fits every month adding that they could ensure increased output.

The Regional Minister however commended the heads for their dedication to duty and urged them to keep it up to development of the district.

Mr. Michael Esandoh, Regional Co-ordinating Director for his part advised them to eschew partisan politics in the discharge of their duties, as this has the tendency to affect their performance.

Mr. Charles Akom Hayford, District Manager of the National Health Insurance Scheme NHIS, during an open forum appealed to the regional Minister to impress upon the regional Director of health services to ensure that the prices of drugs on the schemes list in the district were in uniformity with that of the rest of the country.

He explained that where as the price of Atesunate drugs is 25,000 in the Adansi East District list, it 36000 on the price list of Upper Denkyira District Director. Dr. Rasmus Klutse, District Director Ghana Health Services GHS advised the staff of the NHIS District Secretariat to consult the service providers in the district with their problems for amicable solution rather than going to the press, which according to him, could erode peoples confidence in the scheme. In another development Nana Arthur interacted with the Chiefs and people of Abudu Krom where he commended Nana Abudu Takora, the Odikro of the village for establishing a school there.

The Regional Minister assured the apple that a 3-classroomblock will be built in the village with fans provided by the European Union EU rent year.

He advised them to take advantage of the capitation grant and the school feeding programme introduced by the government and sends their children to school to enable them to become responsible citizens. Nana Arthur assured them of government's readiness to make all rules to the place motorable and that any construct or who would delay in the execution of constructs awarded him would have it terminated. He also inspected the school feeding programme centre attached to the School whose work has been completed.

Richard Anane Adabor, District Chief Executive urged the people who would manage the school feeding programme in the village to buy food stuff from the place so as to provide a reading market for the farmers day Nana Takora who was the National best farmer for 2002 appealed to the regional Minister to ensure that their roads were repaired well and on schedule in order to facilitate the transportation of their farm produce with the marketing centres.
