Districts to have sister cities- Deputy Minister

Bwaku UE/R July 15, GNA- Captain Nkrabea Effah-Darteh, Deputy Minster of local government and rural development on Monday disclosed that his Ministry would by the end of the year set up a desk for sister city responsible for districts of the country.

He therefore, called on all district assemblies to aspire to have a sister city each abroad as soon as the desk is established. Captain Effah-Darteh, who made these remarks in a keynote address in Bawku during the commissioning of the newly built Bawku central market urged the people to co-exist peacefully because buying and selling thrives very well in an atmosphere of peace.

The Deputy Minister pledged 200 bags of cement for the construction of a modern toilet facility in the market to promote sanitation. He told the people that the general election is just around the corner and they are witnesses to the numerous development projects that have come their way and therefore they should vote massively for the party in the next election for more projects.

Mr Yekini Lawal secretary of the market users association commended the EU for providing funds for the construction of the market and appealed to the district assembly to give preference to the users of the old stalls, which were demolished when sharing the new ones.
