Odumase (B/A), Aug 16, GNA - Dr David Opare, Sunyani Municipal Director of Ghana Health Services (GHS), has cautioned the youth to desist from unhealthy practices.

He noted with concern some of the youth in the country were peddling drugs, engaging in pre-marital sex and other social evils. Dr Opare was addressing about 70 young people at a forum organised by the chief and elders of Odumase, a farming community near Sunyani on Sunday.

He said there was the need for traditional authorities, as the embodiment of the people, to monitor the activities of the youth in their communities.

"If the youth, as future leaders, are not well trained then there is the possibility that the country will fall into gutters."

Nana Kwame Korang, Omanhene of Awuah-Domase Traditional Council, said there was a growing spate of indiscipline particularly among the youth in the town and that such forums would help curb it. He said there are plans by the traditional council to enact byelaws that would ban video shows and discos in the area.
