Donkoase (Ash), March 4, GNA- The people of Adubrem and Donkoase in the Amansie East district of Ashanti have expressed concern about the poor nature of the six-kilometre road linking the town and Hemang and Homase.

The poor state of the road is affecting the cultivation of cocoa, citrus, cassava and other farming activities in the area. They have therefore appealed to the district assembly and the Department of Feeder Roads to assist in rehabilitating the road. Mr Adu Denkyirah, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ward chairman of Adubrem who said this expressed the hope that their appeal would receive the support of the government since it is determined to revive the cocoa industry in the country.

He said the people are desirous to embrace the President's Special Initiative (PSI) on cassava but blamed the poor nature of the road as one of the impediments.

Mr Denkyirah, who is also a member of the area unit committee, stressed, "the area is well positioned to contribute to the PSI on cassava" and that efforts must be made to reshape the road to motivate the communities.

The NPP ward chairman again expressed concern about the lack of electricity supply in the area.

"For more than seven years, poles have been elected yet no action is being taken to complete the project", he said.

Mr Denkyirah therefore appealed to the government to expedite action to get the area connected to the national grid. He advised the people in the area to register massively for the December general elections when the voter registration exercise begins on March 16.
