Donkoto (Ash), Jan. 30, GNA- The chiefs and people of Donkoto in the Atwima-Mponua district of Ashanti have completed the construction of a junior secondary school block comprising an office, a workshop and toilet facilities at the cost of 150 million cedis. The community is also levying every man 30,000 cedis and woman 15,000 cedis for the extension of electricity from Antwi-Adjeikrom junction to the town.
Mr Samuel Fofie, the assemblyman for the area, announced these when Mr Wilberforce Owusu-Ansah, Atwima-Mponua, District Chief Executive, visited the town as part of his familiarization tour of the area. He, on behalf of the people, appealed to the district assembly to provide them with cement and roofing sheets to rehabilitate the local primary school.
Mr Fofie also asked the assembly to provide them with boreholes to solve the acute water problem facing the people.
Nana Kwame Awuah I, chief of Donkoto, commended Mr Batholomew Amponsah, the District Works Engineer, for his regular supervision ongoing development projects in the district and urged him to continue with his good work.
The DCE lauded the people for their self-help and communal spirit and gave the assurance that the assembly will assist any community that would initiate development projects.
Mr Owusu-Ansah advised the people to pay their basic and property rates, to enable the assembly generate enough revenue for development. He also urged them to send their children to school and patronize the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to enable them access health service easily. 30 Jan. 06
