Dormaa Ahenkro (B/A), July 5, GNA - Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service have often been criticized by some sections of the populace for their late response to fire disaster calls, but Mr Mumuni Musah, Managing Director of M. M. Unity Poultry Farm at Dormaa Ahenkro has been full of praise for Dormaa District Fire personnel "for their timely intervention" to save his farm from total collapse.
He expressed gratitude, particularly to Mr Emmanuel Sarfo, District Fire Officer, for the swift but orderly manner in which he mobilised and dispatched his men to control fire that engulfed the farm's main feed-mill last week.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Dormaa Ahenkro, Mr Musah said as soon as the fire was detected an SOS message was sent through the two local FM Stations who immediately relayed it and was swiftly responded to by the fire personnel. "But for the timely intervention of the fire personnel, great damage would have been done to the multi-million cedis feed-mill and this would have halted operations, throwing the employees out of job", Mr Musah said.
He lauded the exceptional professionalism exhibited by the firemen, describing them as efficient, ever ready and dedicated to their duty. Mr Musah appealed to the public to consider the security agencies as indispensable partners in development. Mr Sarfo commended the government for providing the District with a new fire tender without which the fire personnel could not have performed the feat.
He advised the public to desist from using the Service's emergency telephone numbers to raise false alarms.
