Mpasatia, (Ash), Jan.12, GNA - A 33-year old drive, Abass Mohammed had one of his legs severed when an Urvan mini bus hit him at the outskirts of Mpasatia in the Atwima Mponua district recently.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency on the incident, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Akonnor, the Abuakwa district Police commander said at about 1825 pm on November 27 2004, Abass, who was driving from Adobewura to Kumasi had a flat tyre.
He said the driver therefore, parked his vehicle by the roadside to fix another tyre and that, while replacing the tyre, one John Baafi who was driving an Urvan mini bus hit Abass, who was replacing the tyre.
ASP Akonnor said the impact was so great that the victim's leg was completely severed and was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi without the severed leg.
He said it was later found in the bush and sent to KATH. Meanwhile Mr Akonnor said Mohammed was responding to treatment.
