The Reverend Erasmus Amankwaah Addo, President of Ghana National Association of Driving Schools, has called on drivers to be circumspect on the road and make effective use of the various road signs.

He reminded them about the benefit of the use of seat belt and also explained that it protects the driver and the passenger in times of accident.

Rev Addo made the call in an interview with Ghana News Agency in Accra.

He advised drivers who overload their vehicles to put an end to such acts because it places the lives of passengers in danger and also amounts to an offence punishable by law.

Rev Addo said as the country is about to celebrate the yuletide, there is the need for drivers to be extra careful on the road and avoid unnecessary overtaking to reduce road accidents.

He warned those who give their vehicles to other drivers to drive, saying if such incidents are noticed, both the driver and the spare driver would face the law.

Rev Addo advised motor riders and their pillions to also make effective use of the helmet since it protects them in time of accidents.

He urged the drivers to desist from driving under the influence of alcohol since such practices contribute to fatal accidents on the road.

Rev Addo urged them to take the advantage of the emerging technology to upgrade their profession.
