Duayaw Nkwanta prepares for district status

Duayaw-Nkwanta (B/A), Aug. 18, GNA - The chiefs and people of Duayaw-Nkwanta, capital of the newly created Tano North District, on Tuesday undertook a clean-up exercise in the town in preparation for the inauguration of the District Assembly offices on Thursday, August 19. The District Water and Sanitation Board (WSB) organized the exercise that lasted for about five hours.

Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service and Prison Service joined the people to clean gutters, weeded the surroundings, picked waste plastic materials and swept the entire town.

Nana Damptey Akom, Atuntumfoohene who is Chairman of the WSB, explained that the exercise was to show the commitment and preparedness of the people towards the development of the community.

He commended the government for making Duayaw-Nkwanta the capital of the new district and pledged, on behalf of the people to support government programmes to enhance development in the community.
