Inauguration of Air Force Cadet Corps of Lyceum Junior High School in Tamale in the Northern region over the weekend was delayed due to a power cut.
The power outage kept guest speakers and parents waiting for almost five hours, until a generator was quickly organised to provide power.
The ceremony, which was supposed to start at 8:30 A.M., delayed for about five hours before the organisers managed to get a generator for the commencement of the programme.
Though the beauty of the whole programme was nearly marred, the local drama club and the school cultural dancers performed well to ease the anxiety of many of the audience.
The head master of the school, Mr. Appre-Akwesi Dontwi, could not believe why the whole place was plunged into darkness.
He, however, advised the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) to stick to the usual load shedding timetable.
Mr. Akwesi commended parents and the invited guests for their patience.
And speaking on the theme, “Educating the Whole Child, The role of Central Lyceum,” he further advised the pupils to live a good life and dream of having a positive career, so as to attain educational equity.
According to him, the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) under whose auspices the school was established was to unearth brilliant minds for the development of the country.
“Our expectations are to offer equally high standard and quality education for children in every corner of the country with dignity, value and unique gifts.”
Some parents who spoke to Today commended management of the school for living up to expectation, and hoped for more improvement.
