Bolgatanga March 3, GNA - Mr. Boniface Gambilla, Upper East Regional Minister on Thursday urged all Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in the Region to regularly provide information on their projects and programmes to the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC). This he said would enable the Council to provide the necessary assistance they would need to achieve their goals.
Mr Gambilla made the call when a Dutch Development NGO, "SNV" which aims at reducing poverty in rural areas, paid a courtesy call on him. He suggested that the NGO pay more attention to Girl Child Education, saying that even though some work had been done in that sector, a lot more needed to be added.
Mr Rockson Bukari, Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, asked SNV to support women in the craft industry to enable them to expand their businesses.
The leader of the three-member team, Mr Pedro Arens, said the NGO was into capacity development of local communities and private sector development with the aim of reducing poverty.
He said the NGO had worked in the southern part of the country with success and planned to operate in the northern sector as well.
