Koforidua, Aug 22, GNA - The West Volta Presbytery Christian Youth Builders (WVPCYB) of the E.P Church has cultivated 10 acres of cassava at Beposo in the Akuapem North District to support the President's Special Initiative (PSI) on cassava starch.

Mr Gershon Afemeku, the President of WVPCYB who said this at the 38th anniversary rally of WVPCYB at Koforidua on Saturday, said the WVPCYB would also cultivate five acres of cassava at Kpong and five acres of pineapple at Fotobi near Nsawam this September. This would generate funds for the purchase of a vehicle for evangelism. Plans are advanced to establish a Youth Resource Centre at Kpong to train the youth in catering, dressmaking, masonry, and electrical engineering.

The three-day rally, which attracted the youth from Accra, Tema, Kpong, Sekondi/Takoradi and Koforidua was under the theme: "Remember now thy creator in the day of thy youth".

Mr Afemeku urged the youth in the church to contribute to the smooth take-off of the E.P University scheduled for September. Mr Nicholas Mawufemor Atefoe, the General Secretary of the Union, said members in the Accra District donated 150 units of blood to the Korle-Bu Hospital while their counterparts at Tema District donated 121 pints to the Tema Government Hospital on Republic Day. The exercise would soon be extended to the Koforidua Regional Hospital.

He said next year the Union would extend its evangelism to Cote D'voire and establish an ICT Centre for the youth there.
