Addressing the chiefs and people at Asamankese, Mr Antwi-Boasiako assured them of government plans to rehabilitate the Eastern Region roads under the Cocoa Roads Project.

He said, government under the construction of the cocoa roads project nationwide, has listed the Adeiso-Osinease, Suhum- Asamankse, Osinease-Dade, and the Koforidua-Tafo –Bunso roads, as part of the national cocoa roads to be constructed.

The Regional Minister said, 10 kilometres of road within the Asamankese township would also be rehabilitated under the urban roads and highways this year.

He urged the chiefs to support government’s initiatives to sustain and help improve economic activities in the various communities within their jurisdiction.

The Gyasehene of Asamankese, Nana Oppong Adease, said the road rehabilitation is long overdue, and expressed the hope that work on the project would be accelerated, to enhance economic activities in that part of the country.

He appealed to the Regional Minister and other statutory authorities to consider traditional boundaries when demarcating the boundaries for districts and municipalities, to avoid some traditional areas losing some towns to others.
