Mr Antwi-Boasoako Sekyere, Eastern Regional Minister, has appealed to the chiefs and people in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality, to take keen interest in the National Sanitation exercise, to help reduce the re-occurrence of cholera outbreak within the Municipality.

He assured the people, this year, of the construction of the Adoagyiri-Adeiso-Asamankese-Kade road, under the rehabilitation of the cocoa roads in the country.

Mr Antwi-Boasiako made the appeal when he met the chiefs and people of the Municipality at Nsawam, as part of his tour of the area.

Nana Otuosiribour Safo-Kantanka, Manwerehene of Adoagyiri, called for the return of 635.2 acres of their land which government acquired, but was no longer using for the purpose for which it was acquired.

He appealed for the fencing of the Nsawam cemetery, to help reduce the use of the area by some young people for dubious acts, including “sakawa” .

Nana Safo-Kantanka said, despite the promise by the Electricity Company of Ghana to provide the people with 12 hours of electricity, they often received six hours supply, and pleaded with the Minister to intervene.

He said due to the nature of the Nsawam-Apedwa road, drivers dropped passengers from Suhum to Adoagyiri on the new Nsawam by-pass, where they could easily be attacked by robbers on their way to the town, so the best option was for the passengers to board Accra-bound vehicles to Accra, and from there, board another back to Nsawam, which comes with additional cost.

Nana Okoanadwo Efutu Dompreh, Akyem Kotoku Ankobeahene, appealed for the expansion of the Nsawam lorry park, to facilitate trading by the youth.
