EKGS Institute to introduce ‘Creative Hour’ programme

Mrs Efua Otuwaa Goode, Director of EKGS Culinary Institute, a catering School, has said the Institute would soon introduce an orientation programme dubbed “Creative Hour”.

“The programme is intended to help students come out with their own creative designs, instead of replicating what is already in the system to nurture them reach their full potential in the future,” she added.

Mrs Goode said this on Sunday at the 30th Graduation and 15th Anniversary of the institute where 120 students graduated in Cake Making and Decorating, Sugar Art, and Pastry Making Art, Cookery, Balloon, Ribbon and Floral.

The ceremony was on the theme: “15 Years in the Culinary Industry: The Impact of EKGS so far.”

Mrs Goode said over the past 15 years, the Institute has been graduating an average of 200 students every year, which has brought hope and a source of livelihood to the youth in the country.

She urged government to subsidise the tools and equipment used in the sector for beginners and graduands to set-up and absorbed more youth for training and employment.

Mrs Dzifa Abla Gomashie, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts commended management of the Institute for sustaining the training in creating employment for the teeming youth.

She advised the students to be focused and serious with their studies and strive to make a positive impact where ever they find themselves since work hard and discipline are key to achieving success.
