Gambaga (N/R), Sept 4, GNA - The East Mamprusi District Assembly has received 950 million cedis as its share of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) for the second quarter.

The assembly also got 800 million cedis under the DANIDA Transport Sector Programme Support (TSPS) and 800,000 cedis under the third phase of the District Wide Assistance Programme (DWAP). Mr. Peter Wuni, the East Mamprusi District Chief Executive, said this at the third ordinary session of the Assembly at Gambaga on Friday at which the House was dissolved.

He said internally generated revenue of the assembly could hardly meet its recurrent expenditure.

"This has made the Assembly to depend virtually on the District Assemblies' Common Fund for almost everything". The DCE expressed his appreciation to the Assembly Members for their contribution towards the development of the district and appealed to those seeking re-election to conduct their campaigns devoid of insults and attacks on their opponents. He also expressed concern about the spate of armed robbery in the district and called on the people to report any suspicious people to the security agencies.

Madam Musah Adama, the Presiding Member, thanked the Assembly Members for their commitment to the work of the assembly and urged them to share their knowledge and experiences with in-coming assembly members to facilitate the development of the area
