Edina Chief petitions Mahama over conduct of NDC activist

The paramount chief of Edina traditional area , Nana Kwadwo Condua VI has urged president Mahama to call Kwabena Badu also known as Maanoma to order as his actions in the area could mar the relative peace that the area is enjoying.

According to Nana Kwadwo Condua, Maanoma has succeeded in creating factions in the NDC and among the fishermen resulting in altercations that could plunge the area into chaos if care is not taken.

According to them, Maanoma is alleged to be using his position as member of the National Premix Committee to intimidate individuals in the area who do not support his cause to the extent of masterminding the denial of such people especially fishermen premix fuel to undertake fishing activities.

Nana Condua explained that his quest to broker peace among the feuding factions was misconstrued to mean his support for the other faction with Maanoma hurling insults at him in the town every morning using mobile public address vans.

The chief poured out his frustration president Mahama paid a courtesy call on him at his Palace in Elmina as part of the “Accounting to the People your”

The fishing industry in Elmina recorded many clashes and demonstrations with some fisher folks sustaining various degrees of injuries last year as a result of unfair distribution of premix fuel and also accountability issues concerning the sale of the fuel leading to the distoolment of the chief fisherman of the town.

“I will plead with you to put your party activists here to check. Some of them even go to the extent of verbally abusing me and creating acrimony in the town. Once you are here I am sure you will sit them down and advice them”, the chief told the president.

President Mahama assured the chief that he will take a serious look at his petition and advised the chief to maintain the peace that the area is enjoying.
