Leklebi Duga, July 11, GNA - The Leklebi Education Trust Fund on Sunday presented writing materials worth 12 million cedis to 11 basic schools in the traditional area.

The beneficiary schools include Leklebi Duga, Kame, Dafor, Fiape and Agbesia Evangelical Presbyterian Primary and Junior Secondary Schools (JSS). Presenting the items Professor Godfrey Komla Adanu, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Fund said the presentation was to support the plight of pupils in basic schools in the Leklebi traditional area. He expressed concern over the fallen standards of education in the area and hoped with the provision of the items, would enhance teaching and learning in the area.

Mr. Adanu therefore, called on all citizens of Leklebi, friends and all stakeholders in education to assist the Fund for a worthy course. Mr Philips Agbozo, Headteacher of Leklebi Duga E.P. J.S.S on behalf of other beneficiary schools promised to put the items to good use to improve education in the traditional area.

Giving highlights on problems found in schools for assistance, Mrs. Jessie Agbozo, a Retired Educationist said most of the schools lacked English, Maths and Science Textbooks.

She said a survey conducted by the Executives of the Fund revealed that 95 per cent of pupils in schools in the traditional area had few or no exercise books.

Mrs. Agboso said it was also found out that pupils were not well fed before coming to school, which, she said, compelled them to be "dashing home for food".
